Want a more powerful tee shot?

One of the first and principle aims of chi-power GOLF is to help you relax.

By learning to relax you can become better rooted to the ground at the address position. Without a strong root, your swing technique may lack power. Pondering on what makes a golf swing more powerful (thus increasing your distance off the tee) one might point to the rotation of the hands, the turning of the shoulders, twisting of the waist or the leverage of the wrists.

While all of these actions are important, and do add power, the true power of the swing comes from the “ground upwards” (Ben Hogan), more specifically, the action of the feet pushing against the ground, distributing that power through the spine and into the club-head at the moment of impact.

This is known in sports science as ‘ground force energy’ and is a secret used by martial artists from every style to add more power to their punches.

Taking a lesson from physics, when know that when we push against a solid object it pushes back with equal and opposite force. Thus, in chi-power GOLF we learn to use the earth’s ‘push’ by relaxing and rooting at the address position, thus “playing golf with the feet” (Jack Nicklaus) to greatly multiply the power we can generate by using correct technique combined with our physical strength alone.
