Who’s Operating Your Golfing Machine?

Given what Fred Shoemaker (Extraordinary Golf) calls the “outside-in” approach – the mainstream culture’s obsession with mechanics and technique – the average golfer plateaus after three years of playing as the schism widens between personal exploration and the retention of expert data on the science, geometry, angles and physics of the golf swing.

As an analogy, let’s use the title from a famous book ‘The Golfing Machine’, published in the late 1960’s and which is still used as a text book for teaching professionals.

If you look closer you’ll see there’s a definite ‘spanner in the works’ as any machine is subject to the infamous Murphy’s Law which states that “If something can go wrong, it will go wrong!”

Wouldn’t it make more sense therefore to inquire about the ‘Operator’ of the Golfing Machine and start paying them more attention?
