How to Perform Fluid Motion Under Pressure

Hi everyone, welcome to the new decade.

I’m Jayne Storey. If you love sport and you like to win competitions, then I’m here to help you train your mind-body connection.

Now you’d think that if you want to excel in any kind of sporting performance, especially when you are under pressure like in a competition or tournament, that you need to be fit, you need to train your technique and you need to know something about the mental game and keep your thoughts positive.

Well, I’m here to tell you that there is a different approach available to you.

I’m here to tell you that this old-fashioned approach of training your technique and training your mental game separately…well, I think those days are gone.

It’s a new decade now and I’d like us to look back to some ancient principles from the East, from the meditation and martial arts and learn how to bring the mind and body together and the first thing we have to understand of course, is that the mind and body, for the most part remain disconnected.

So therefore, when you’re standing over a clutch putt or you just have to make your second serve in a tennis match or you’re about to come down a ski slalom or do a back flip on a high beam – any of these  things – when you need to perform movement in a way that is fluid, powerful, effortless and precise, if you’re thinking about how you’re moving which is the technical approach to sport, your body can’t move with ease and fluidity, if you try to then think positively, telling yourself that you’re going to make the jump or make the putt, then you get into the realm of what I call “thinking about thinking” and again, this is not going to help you bring your mind and body together.

To perform fluid motion, motion that’s complex but in a way that’s effortless, we have to work the mind and body together.

The dichotomy that’s facing sports-people of any discipline is this; the mind has a job to do and its job is to analyse, organise, research and quantify information, that’s the job of the mind but the body, well the body just loves to move and it wants to be free to be able to move naturally.

So what I’m offering with my method is the chance for you to quieten the mind with some deep practises like breathing and meditation, train your attention to be on the physical body and therefore enable you to tap into some natural movement principles.

Please feel free to leave and comment or question for me and I will be sure to reply!

For all coaching enquiries (1-2-1 and Skype) please send me a message and let me know a little about yourself and the issues you’re facing in your sport. We can then set up a time to speak on the phone.

Happy training everyone!
